ArcGIS Introduction for Beginners

Date 15th – 16th August 2016

This workshop course introduces GIS concepts and ArcGIS tools used to visualize GIS features, obtain information, and communicate that information to others. Working primarily with ArcMap and ArcGIS Online, user will create GIS maps, explore the data behind the maps, and explore map visualizations and data as they explore fundamental concepts that underlie GIS technology.



After completing this course, user will be able to:

  • Quickly create and share a GIS map.
  • Find and organize geographic data and other content for a mapping project.
  • Accurately display features on a GIS map and access information about them.
  • Explore spatial analysis capabilities available to answer questions and create new information.
  • Explore how user can share GIS maps and analysis results so they are
    easily accessible to desktop, web, and mobile device users.

ArcGIS Essential Workflows for Beginners

This workshop course expose user to the fundamental workflow of GIS - author, share, and use geographic information and maps acrocss the ArcGIS system. Users will learn how to efficiently find, explore and manage geographic data and create informative maps that showcase user's work.

After completing this course, user will be able to:

  • Understand what GIS is, what it can do, and how others are using it
  • Create a basic GIS map
  • Work with different types of geographic data
